Not Enough Power?
3/16/2018 (Permalink)
One way to prevent a basement from flooding is to install a Sump Pump...right? This seems empirical, but simply having a Sump Pump is not enough. A Sump Pump can fail to perform properly at a moments notice resulting in a flooded basement. Therefore, it is important to make certain your Sump Pump is running and running well.
The main function of a Sump Pump is to prevent excess rain water or ground water from entering a basement or crawlspace by pumping the water away from the structure.
On average Sump Pumps last about 10 years.
Is your Sump Pump working effectively?
A few common factors of Sump Pump Failure include:
- Power loss/outage
- Blocked/frozen discharge pipe
- Bad float switch
- Too much water for the Sump Pump to handle.
